I forgot to tell you that the SacTownGuy forgot to bring a hat to Hawaii. I don't have a lot of protection on my head so I need some cover up! Anyway, I can't find my favorite golf (fishing style) hat that I got in Arizona back in '99 or so on a guy's golf trip. Anyway, bummed to have lost that hat last summer so have been making due with a couple different baseball caps: fitted LA Dodger hat, black SacTown King's and a few others. Anyway, forgot them all. We stopped at Wal-Mart after we landed and I figured I would buy some generic Hawaii hat. Of course, if I could find "Hawaii '76" in red, white and blue I would buy that! However, before I could find one I found this old skool looking Schlitz hat for five bucks. I figure people seeing me think I am some white trash who can barely afford to be here. Sort of amusing.
peace out.
Speaking of which, I was in the hot tub today, with my Schlitz hat on talking to a couple from Chi-town. Nice couple in their 60's. Turns out they have two different two bedroom units here. We were discussing ownership at Marriott and I mentioned I got my two bedroom on Craigslist for $2,350 for the week. He told me he sold one of his two bedroom ocean "view" units back to Marriott this year as he couldn't use it and Marriott gave him $4,000 for the week as they sell it on the open market for a granny a night (or more). That's just the ocean view unit while ours is ocean FRONT. I explained where our unit was and the guy knew exactly which one it was. He and his wife were in shock with my deal. I explained the guy I bought from didn't own here at Maui Marriott but had traded in from some non-Marriott timeshare in Spain. Thus, he didn't have the option of selling to Marriott. Anyway, the bottom line is my $2,350 is an unheard of deal so we better enjoy it while we can!
I thought there were four units like ours, ocean front/ground floor, but turns out there are only two. The other tower has a bar/restaurant on the bottom floor instead of hotel rooms. So you could easily argue we have one of the two best units in the whole place. Sure it's close to the beach and pool which is great.
If nothing else, it is THE closest to the marketplace store with the Diet Coke machine. Since we paid $25 for the all you can drink cup this week Marriott stock is probably dropping daily with Kitty Kat's ability to put that stuff away! The cup is only about 20 oz's but she drops about 10 of them a day! She starts before we head out to breakfast and continues to bedtime. I throw down 5 or 6 iced teas so am doing ok on the free refills. It really was poor planning on Marriott's part to put Kitty Kat so close to the Diet Coke machine.
peace out.
