Another Day

I am working out in the RoseTown office today. That means I got to sleep in until 4:40, was the Ranch at about 4:55, shot some baskets, rode the bike for about 80 minutes, had a nice hot shower and headed over to Mickey D's in G'bay for an iced tea. They have nice fresh brewed iced tea over there. Now, I have stated before that G'bay is probably the nicest part of the greater SacTown metropolitian area. Simply put it's where a lot of wealthy/successful people live. Maybe people that don't go to the Mickey D's drive-thru a lot!?

The Mickey D's in G'bay is a fairly new store. The drive-thru is around back and is one with two lanes to order in. As I came down the side of the store I saw a white Ford Expedition in the left lane, no car in the right lane, and a black BMW straddling the two lanes apparently not sure which lane to go in. As I came around to the back of the building the black BMW (a big 7 series) was behind the Expedition in the left lane. This left the right lane wide open. I am not sure what the proper etiquette here is but I went ahead to the right lane and right up to the spot where you order.

By the time I got to the speaker, where you order, the Expedition had moved on and it was my turn. I quickly ordered my iced tea and got in line behind the Expedition. The black BMW, with deep tinted windows, was just now getting to the spot to the order in th left lane. I was thinking to myself, "I bet that person does not go to the Mickey D's drive-thru a lot because I think everybody knows there are two lanes and it's the basic "zipper system" with one car going to each side. Anyway, I paid my $1.93 to the very friendly guy at the first window. He mentioned to me that the lady behind me was being very rude and had just yelled her order at him over the loudspeaker. I commended him on keeping his cool with her, told him to have a good day and moved on to the second drive-thru window to pick up my iced tea, with one Equal, and get going to work....

As I sat there at the window, watching the fresh brewed tea flowing into the waiting cup, I could swear I heard a woman's voice say "asshole." Almost like someone would say it under their breath. I figured I was dreaming it and turned my attention back to the iced tea, watched the man put the lid on it, I asked for my Equal, and I put the icea tea down in my center console. I then heard a car behind me honking and, I really am not making this up, the lady giving me the finger. I yell out my window, "what?" She yells back, "you know what," honks the horn again and flips me off again.

I pull up a few feet and then stop as she is honking and flipping me off some more. I decide to play road side vigilante and get out of my car to ask for some details. Yes, I know I should have let it go but I didn't. Really though what was I supposed to do back in the line? Was I supposed to get behind her in the left lane so somebody else could go into the right lane passing both of us? Was I supposed to sit in the right lane and tell the drive-thru guy to help the person in the other lane first? I am still a little confused. Anyway, I stood there in the drive-thru lane and again asked her, "what?" She yells back, "get a job." I advise her that I have a very good job and, I add, that I probably make more money than her. No, I didn't pull out my 1040 but sort of felt like it because really there isn't much more of a "I win" then pulling out the 1040. She then yelled back, "look at that crappy car you drive."

Ok, I drive a silver 2005 Infiniti G35 coupe. I am not suggesting it's the coolest car on earth but I think it's perfectly respectable. I felt like explaining things in detail to this lady but she is obviously not very wordly because to judge someone based on their car would be so simple minded. Maybe she is dropping a grand (or more) a month to lease her BMW and maybe I wrote a check for about $38k to buy my car outright!? It's hard to know much about a person's finances when just looking at the car a person is driving. I know of many people who have a car they can't afford and I also have many clients, worth many millions, who drive 10 year old Chevy's. In fact, very few of my multi-millionaire clients drive 7 series BMWs with deep tinted windows; in fact, none that I can think of!

With that, I drove on to work and here I sit... enjoying my iced tea and feeling sad for the crazy lady, in the black 7 series, at Mickey D's.

As usual the words I write are 100% on the real.

peace out.
