Monday Musings

Lots of stuff to say, none of it important, and little time to say it so here we go....

First of all, I first heard about Ikea in 1991 when my home the Glaze, bought all his stuff there for his law school apartment. I mean he bought EVERYTHING. It seemed that every item I touched in his apartment was from this Ikea place down in LA. Though I have heard a lot about Ikea over the years I never went to Ikea until Saturday. WOW! They opened up in Sac a couple years ago but I never had the need to go so never went. First stop was to drop the kids at the day care center. You can leave them there for an hour. When we picked the kids up they had huge smiles on their faces. We picked out a shelf unit for our laundry room and picked up a few other items. It was about 6:00 so we jumped up to the cafeteria for dinner. I am not going to say it was the best meal ever. However, it was the best meal, this family of four has EVER eaten... for $11.36! Two plates of pasta marenera, two plates of mac and cheese, 2 chocolate milks (50 cents each), 1 soda, 1 side of bread and a plate of veggies! If I had skipped the veggies ($1.79) we would have been under $10.00 for dinner! They had a ton of good looking items. The best looking item was the gravad lox. However, I figured they may have been there since the store opened two years ago so didn't grab them. They were all of $4.50 I think. Anyway, high marks for my first Ikea experience.

Second, it is that time of year... NCAA hoops! I love the tourney. More on that later in the week.

Third, Kitty Kat painted the laundry room yesterday. Doing some minor remodeling in there. Pulled the dryer hose off the wall and it felt like a rock was in there. Damn, what could it be? We had some rats in the garage last year... like that little f'er who ate wires in my engine block and cost me $300 of repairs... but no it wasn't a rat. It was a bird. A full size bird! Damn, that's no way to die. RIP little birdie.

Fourth, I test drove the Prius this weekend. As expected it felt slower than my old '84 Rabbit which had all of 85 horses under the hood. They say the Prius has 160 ponies but don't feel it. Nice car overall. We looked at a loaded model with navigation, leather, etc.... Sticker price was $28k. I would like to skip the navi but drop in a video player for the kids so would still end up at about $28k. The salesguy was top notch over at Maita, knew his product, didn't BS, etc.... He was quick to admit they would sell it for about $28k out the door. That of course means they will sell it for less than $28k out the door. Not too bad. Sell the G for $25k, drop $3k on the United Airlines Visa and be good to go! Oh ya, but I love my car and not sure I want to save the world yet. The Prius plan is on hold for the time being.

That's about it. I got work to do... like figuring out my brackets!

peace out.
