OC North

The SacTownGuy came up with a revilation recently while cruising around the SacTown 'burbs of RoseTown... there are a ton of people here from Orange County. I went and expressed this to a couple of others and they looked at the SacTownGuy like, "ahhhh, duhhhhhhhhhh, of course there are...." I had just never thought about it but I guess it makes sense.

When you live in SoCal the OC was also known as the "Orange Curtain" which was it's only little (now many millions of people) place totally different than the rest of SoCal. Growing up IN LA we rarely went out to the OC and, as far as I know, they rarely traveled up to the big city.

The OC was known for Disneyland and Republicans... and maybe not in that order. Well guess what... RoseTown voted for GW Bush at about an 80% clip 4 years ago. Scary says I! However, this is not a political discussion so we will discuss that another day. I just found the whole thing interesting.

I had on an old KROQ t-shirt recently at my dude's swim meet. A guy about my age said, "ohhh, haven't seen a KROQ shirt in a while...." He said he was from SoCal so I asked where and he said he was from the OC. I don't remember where but whatever it's all the same anyway. I NEVER EVER EVER meet someone from West LA. Ok, that's not totally true but it's pretty darn rare. Pretty much ever "LA" transplant is from the OC. As someone else pointed out to me there are also a lot of people from San Jo living up here in RoseTown. Again, a burb to burb transfer.

Since the above is no great revelation to anybody else I have one other random, and semi-related, thought to share. People from San Diego, who live up here, say they are from San Diego. People from the OC say they are from "southern California." People from LA (like the SacTownGuy) say we are from "LA." There is one other group that often claims "LA" status... people from the Inland Empire. That kills me every time I hear it. Look dude, Moreno Valley is NOT LA it's "Riverside" or the "Inland Empire." Same goes for every other town from Pamona to Palm Springs... you are NOT from LA. Don't disrespect like that.
