My mind was RACING this morning as I peddled away at the gym. 101 minutes of cardio later I felt great... though I was thinking I might have to start taking a Dictaphone with me to the gym to keep track of my thoughts as many are good blog material. Here is a random sampling of today's material.
Of course the SacTownGuy got there at 5 oo on the dizzo. Can not be late to start the new year! Actually, I slept like crap, woke up early and was at the gym at about 4-fi'ty. Luckily, Nickki was feeling the new year's love and let us in about 4:55. A good start to the new year.
It is a new year so you know what that means... new year's resolution people at the gym! Suckers! Don't they know it won't last!? Plus they stick out like a soar thumb! They are not there at 5 because they are pansies. They get there at 6:00 or 6:30 and think it's really early. Then they work out for 20 minutes, wipe down the bike for 10 as if they actually did anything which caused a wipe down to be necessary and then they hit the showers. I do 20 minutes before I turn off my I-pod and start reading! I got puddles of sweat brewing on the ground. F'ing newbies.
By the way, WHO THE F' WATCHES THE TENNIS CHANNEL? What a joke that the Del has to keep that playing 24-7 (or "7-24" as I heard some white guy say on TV the other day, or "24-11" as cuz Drew said back in the day). Basically, instead of 5 TVs in the cardio room there are only 4 because nobody watches that crap! Actually, I have heard Old Yeller talking about it so she watches it. She is so loud you can hear her across the room. I don't like to hate people so I won't say the "h" word but I do find her strongly annoying. I have more to say about the tennis channel but will save that for another day.
One of these days I am going to post my all-time top 10 rappers. You know Mix is going to be on the list. I was listening to Mack Daddy today, the title song from the album which featured Baby Got Back. Mack Daddy is one great song. Of course Sir Mix A Lot put out a lot of great songs starting with Square Dance Rap back about '85, Posse on Broadway 'bout '88, Baby Got Back about '91, Put 'um on the Glass, Swap Meet Louie, and the list goes on. Even his later albums which were not big sellers had some great songs. I have to get up to Seattle just so I can eat Dick's; because that's where the cool hang out. Mix is definitely on my top 10! We will get to that another day though.
Read an article in the paper today about the fuel efficiency of turbos in cars. Good time to buy a turbo charged car like a 335i, eh!? The article did remind me that turbo is short for "turbocharger" which we definitely have forgotten over the years. Remember when we thought the V-dub Scirocco with the "bi-turbo" was the fastest car on earth? Thing probably took 8.5 seconds to go 0-60. They got mini vans that can break 8 now days!
Chatted with one of my gym homies; Mr. Gonzaga today. He has good sports knowledge. He said that the games yesterday showed how great USC v. UGA and Illinois v. Hawaii would have been. Totally agree with my man Gonzaga. I would have liked to have seen USC go down to the Sugar Bowl and beat up on UGA down south. The SEC faithful would have their confederate flags flying as they ate their sausages and drank their Bud in the parking lot but I am pretty sure SC would have taken the dawgs down. As for Illinois v. Hawaii... I think Hawaii would have won and then they could show how they beat a "major" conference opponent; assuming the Big 10 is still a major conference!? That could be a series of blogs and each one would be titled "20 more reasons why the Big 10 is a joke."
My mind started wandering as I looked through some ads in the paper. Momz kicked me down with a nice Nordies gift cert and the sale ends on the 6th so I have got to get over there. I tried to go yesterday with the kids but after they re-arranged the chairs in the shoe section and then had to go potty as I tried to look at suits I just gave up. Plus, they didn't have the Ferigamo's at the suburban Nordies. I saw them at the hoodie Nordies so will hit it up today. I have never spent $300 for a pair of shoes so not sure I will be able to pull the trigger; plus momz might fall off her rocker if I dropped 3 bills for a pair of shoes. Might have to stick with the usual Allen Edmonds or similar "cheap" shoes.
Ok, love bumping into my man T at the gym. We used to work out at the same time and thus know each other pretty well. He is a New Yorker who works for a local professional basketball team. In the past he has been a coach. Anyway, T uses the F word more than anybody I have ever fucking met in my life. Just talking to him for 5 minutes and now I am doing it. In 5 minutes I bet he used the F word 50 times. Amazing since he has a radio show. How does he know when to turn the F word usage off!? That guy is fucking funny.
I drove to the office and listened to my man James "J-dub" Washington on Fox Sports Radio. You know I am big UCLA fan and J-dub was on some good teams back in the 80's with Aikman at the helm and that defense that included J-dub, Ken Norton and Carnell Lake. Remember those guys? Anyway, J-dub is getting better and better at his radio show. Today he mentioned that he roots for all Pac-1o teams, even USC, as it makes the Pac-10 look better. I can't disagree with him. I know my momz would never do that but I was happy to watch USC show what a joke Illinois was last night!
With that, I need to wrap up my Quicken report for 2007. I hate to do it but gotz to know where the dough is going....
Hope y'all have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2008! peace out
